Denis Maksimov
Product Designer at dōTERRA, based in Cincinnati, OH. I design mobile apps, websites, platforms and design systems, and I’m looking for design roles after graduating in May ’27.
Who I am
Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, I moved to the United States at the age of 17 to pursue my dreams. Almost 5 years have flown by since then, and now I’m a senior at the University of Cincinnati majoring in IT/Software Development, graduating (hopefully) in May 2027. My adventure in technology and design began a while before that, when I was 15 and got my hands on Figma for the first time. I fell in love with the concept of digital design and started learning the basics of UI/UX, typography, colors, and other topics in this area, which then led me to land my first freelance project at 16. I also realized shortly after that I have a technical side apart from my creative side, which influenced my decision to major in information technology. Some of personal hobbies include tennis, chess, reading, and travel.
What I do
Product design is what clicks for me the most. I design websites, apps, and platforms, but I also go beyond that. I like owning the whole process, from ideation to the final prototypes, and making sure what users need and what the business needs end up in the same product.
What I believe in
I have strong principles in everything I design. I believe that the design of a product should come from the target users’ preferences. I believe that design should be eye-catching and polished yet simple and seamless. I believe that having a system is as important as other parts of design to make sure that there are no inconsistencies. I also believe that great design must tell a story and deliver positive emotions.
